Photo Resizer
Set the exact pixel size and the maximum file size your application form asks for, preview the result, and download a JPG that fits — without uploading your photo anywhere.
Drag and drop a file here, or
JPG/JPEG, PNG · up to 25 MB per file
Your image is processed entirely inside your browser using the built-in canvas feature. It is not uploaded to CentralMirror or anyone else, and it is discarded when you close or leave the page. Privacy policy
How to use the Photo Resizer
- 1Choose or drag in your photo (JPG or PNG).
- 2Enter the width and height in pixels from your form's instructions, or pick a common size. Keep "Lock aspect ratio" on to avoid stretching.
- 3Enter the maximum file size in KB if the form has one. Leave it empty to control quality yourself.
- 4Click "Resize photo", check the preview and the final size, then download.
Supported formats and limits
- Input: JPG/JPEG and PNG (WebP where noted).
- Maximum file size: 25 MB per image.
- Maximum resolution: 40 megapixels (for example 8000 × 5000 px), to avoid running out of memory on phones.
- Camera rotation (EXIF orientation) is applied automatically; other metadata such as GPS location is removed from the output.
- Output: JPG, which is accepted by almost every online form.
Matching your form's photo requirements
Every recruitment board, exam body and government portal sets its own photo rules, and they change between notifications. CentralMirror does not claim that any preset meets a particular organisation's requirement. Always copy the exact pixel dimensions and KB limits from the official notification for your application.
If the form gives a size in centimetres or inches instead of pixels, multiply by the DPI it mentions. For example, 3.5 cm at 300 DPI is 3.5 ÷ 2.54 × 300 ≈ 413 pixels.
Sizes are shown in KB where 1 KB = 1024 bytes, which is how most upload forms measure files. If a form says "between 10 KB and 50 KB", aim for a target a little below the upper limit and check the minimum too.
Why the tool might reduce quality or dimensions
To meet a KB limit, the tool first lowers JPG quality step by step and keeps the highest quality that fits. If even very low quality is still too large, it tells you instead of silently changing your dimensions — unless you tick "Allow smaller dimensions if needed".
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize a photo to 20 KB?
Upload the photo, enter the required pixel size, type 20 in the "Maximum size (KB)" box and click Resize. The tool finds the best JPG quality that stays at or under 20 KB and shows the final size before you download.
Will my photo be uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing happens in your browser using your device's own processing power. The photo is never sent over the internet.
Why is my photo stretched?
If you turn off "Lock aspect ratio" and enter a width and height with a different shape from the original, the photo is stretched to fit. Use the Image Cropper first to cut it to the right shape, then resize.
Can I resize a PNG?
Yes. PNG photos are converted to JPG, because JPG files are much smaller and are what most forms expect. Transparent areas become white.
Does the tool change DPI?
No. The DPI value inside the file is not changed. Most online forms check pixel dimensions and file size, not the stored DPI value.
